Sarah van der Horst
Sarah is a Chapel Hill native and a physiotherapist. After attending Oberlin College as an undergraduate, she ran away to Spain to teacher for 2 years. Family, friends, and those North Carolina seasons called her back eventually. She is now happy spending her days working with the Latina community here, volunteering at SHAC, offering physiotherapy, biking, and walking.
Paula is originally from Bogota, Colombia, but has been living in North Carolina for the past nine years. She is studying global studies and chemistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Upon graduation, Paula hopes to enter medicine school and one day become a surgeon. Paula has a passion for health and wellbeing and is always looking for new ways to help the community.
Claudia Ortiz Lopez
Claudia is a student in the School for Pharmacy at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, who was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She has been in Chapel Hill since 2012, while she finished her undergraduate degree in Biology. Now that she is studying pharmacy, Claudia spends her time studying, reading a lot, and finding new opportunities to help the community.
Manuela is a junior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill originally from Bogota, Colombia. She is majoring in global studies, with an emphasis in global health and Latin American studies, and minoring in social and economic justice. Once she graduates, Manuela hopes to work in the international affairs sector, particularly in humanitarian aid and development. She is particularly passionate about health, learning, globe trotting, reading, and culture.
Nancy is a high school cross country and soccer star that manages to fit in Zumba every Saturday. She will be graduating and attending college next fall.
